Sikar (Rajasthan) [India], March 21: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Senior General Manager (SGM) of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.4 lakh in Sikar, Rajasthan. The bribe was reportedly paid in exchange for extending undue favours in the processing and approval of bills related to PSU contracts awarded to a private company.
Alongside the senior official, Suman Singh, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of KEC International Limited, was also arrested in connection with the case. The CBI had filed the case on March 19, naming six accused individuals, including the senior General Manager of Power Grid Corporation posted in Ajmer, a Mumbai-based private company, and four representatives of the private company.
The accused individuals, identified as Ashtosh Kumar, Atul Agarwal, and Jabraj Singh, remain at large. According to CBI reports, the public servant in question, in collaboration with representatives of the private company, allegedly facilitated and extended improper favours by processing and approving bills for contracts related to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. in exchange for illegal payments.
The bribe amount of Rs 2.4 lakh was allegedly delivered to the accused public servant on March 19 at a fixed location in Sikar after negotiations with representatives of the private company. The Senior General Manager of Power Grid Corporation was arrested immediately after accepting the bribe.
CBI conducted searches at various locations, including the residential and official premises of the accused in Sikar, Jaipur, and Mohali, where several incriminating documents and digital devices were recovered. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
