Cast Revealed For ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas’ Ahead of Holmes Day

Los Angeles [US], May 20: In celebration of Sherlock Holmes Day on May 22, the Birmingham Rep has announced the cast of the upcoming holiday-themed whodunnit ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas’, set to debut later this year.

The production will star Emmy Award-winner Humphrey Ker as Sherlock Holmes and David Reed as the ever-loyal Dr. Watson, according to a report by Variety. The show will run from November 14, 2025, to January 11, 2026, bringing a festive twist to the classic detective genre.

Directed by Phillip Breen and Becky Hope-Palmer, the play is described as a comedy whodunnit, filled with intrigue and humor. The story revolves around a series of mysterious deaths among West End performers, with Holmes uncovering a bizarre link to the beloved carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

Adding musical charm to the mystery, the production will feature original songs by legendary musical theater icons Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Humphrey Ker, best known for his work on FX/Disney+’s “Welcome to Wrexham”—for which he won an Emmy as executive producer—will step into the detective’s iconic deerstalker. Ker also serves as community director for Wrexham AFC and has appeared in NBC’s “American Auto” and Apple TV+’s “Mythic Quest.”

Joining him is David Reed, who will portray Dr. Watson. Reed has appeared in British television staples such as “Endeavour,” “Beyond Paradise,” “Father Brown,” and “Ghosts.” A skilled writer, his credits include radio comedy plays and the Audible Original series “Zeroes.”

Rounding out the ensemble are Margaret Cabourn-Smith as the housekeeper Mrs. Hudson and John Kearns as Inspector Lestrade.

With its unique blend of mystery, music, and holiday flair, ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas’ is shaping up to be a theatrical treat for fans of the great detective and festive storytelling alike.
