Pune: The Deccan Gymkhana police have registered a case against eight unidentified individuals for allegedly putting up a defamatory poster targeting BJP MP Medha Kulkarni at Rani Jhansi Chowk without obtaining civic permission.
The complaint was lodged by Kamlesh Pradhan (47), an officer with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The 8×8 feet poster was reportedly placed to malign the image of the Kothrud-based MP, violating public property norms and civic regulations.
“The poster carries names of the Shiv Sena (UBT) office-bearers, and we will record their statements,”
— Senior Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar, Deccan Gymkhana Police Station
According to officials, the poster was affixed without prior approval from PMC and was removed after being noticed. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and Indian Penal Code.
Police are currently investigating the matter to identify and trace the accused, and are expected to summon Shiv Sena (UBT) members named on the poster for questioning.
