California Governor Warns US Democracy At Risk Ahead Of 2028 Election

Washington, D.C.: California Governor Gavin Newsom has given a very serious warning regarding the future of American democracy. He says that the U.S. may not host a presidential election in 2028 unless political concerns are dealt with.

Newsom didn’t say Donald Trump’s name, but he did give examples of government activities that he thinks go against democratic values. These include sending federal troops to Los Angeles and making US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a privatized enforcement organization.

“I worry that there won’t be an election in 2028.” Newsom stated, “I really mean that in the core of my soul, unless we wake up to the code red of what’s happening in this country.” He said, “I don’t think he wants another election,” pointing to Trump’s 2028 caps and actions that made him look like Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Since losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden, Trump has constantly questioned how people vote, spreading rumors of widespread voter fraud including mail-in votes and noncitizens. In March, he signed an executive order that stressed the importance of “free, fair, and honest elections.” He said that counting votes correctly is essential to the constitutional republic.

As the US gets ready for the next presidential election, Newsom’s warning shows that people are becoming more worried about the integrity of elections and the stability of democracy.
