The chilling case of a headless and limbless body found in a Noida drain has been cracked by the police, leading to the arrest of a bus driver who confessed to the gruesome murder of his extramarital lover.
The accused, Monu Singh alias Monu Solanki (34), was arrested on Friday for the murder of Preeti Yadav, with whom he had been in a relationship while being married with two daughters. Both the accused and the victim resided in Barola, Noida.
Murder Inside a Bus
The victim’s dismembered torso was discovered in a drain under the limits of the Sector-39 police station on November 6. The only initial clue to her identity was a pair of toe rings.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad, Monu Singh confessed during interrogation that the motive behind the murder was extortion.
DCP Yamuna Prasad: “Monu revealed that Preeti had begun extorting money from him… Singh also said that Preeti frequently threatened to implicate him or involve his daughters in illegal activities.”
Singh murdered Yadav on November 5. He confessed to picking up Preeti and secretly bringing a sharp-edged tool taken from her house into his bus. The couple ate inside the bus before a violent argument erupted. Singh then attacked her with the weapon.
Beheading and Dismemberment
DCP Prasad detailed the accused’s chilling confession: Singh attacked her, beheaded her, and severed her hands in a brutal attempt to conceal her identity.
The accused confessed to dumping the torso in the Noida drain and discarding the other body parts, along with the weapon, in a separate dry drain near Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad. Forensic tests on the bus and recovered items have confirmed the presence of human blood.
The investigation was a massive undertaking, with nine police teams formed to trace the victim and the suspect. Police had to scan more than 5,000 CCTV cameras and check around 1,100 vehicles before spotting Monu Singh’s suspicious white-and-blue bus moving near the crime scene with its headlights switched off on the night of November 5.
An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further legal proceedings are underway.
