Burglary Reported At Sangeeta Bijlani’s Lonavala Bungalow; Cash and Electronics Stolen

Lonavala (Maharashtra) [India], July 19: A burglary has been reported at the Lonavala bungalow of Sangeeta Bijlani, actress and wife of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The incident occurred at their vacation property in Tikona Peth, Maval Taluka, Pune district, sometime between March 7 and July 18, 2025, according to Pune Rural Police.

In a statement, police officials said unidentified intruders broke in by cutting the wire mesh of the rear compound wall. They climbed to the first-floor gallery, forced open a window grill, and entered the premises.

The burglars reportedly stole ₹50,000 in cash and a television worth ₹7,000, bringing the total loss to about ₹57,000. Apart from the theft, the miscreants vandalized property inside the bungalow, suggesting intentional damage.

The complaint was lodged by Mohammad Mujib Khan, 54, personal assistant to Azharuddin and a resident of Sambhajinagar. Khan stated that the bungalow had remained unoccupied for months, providing an opportunity for the crime.

Following the complaint, Lonavala Rural Police registered an FIR on July 19 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 331(3), 331(4), 305(a), 324(4), and 324(5). No arrests have been made, and no stolen items have been recovered so far.

Police teams are currently inspecting the crime scene, reviewing CCTV footage, and collecting forensic evidence to identify those responsible.

Further investigation is underway.
