Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana were honoured with the prestigious Best International Cricketer awards at the BCCI Awards 2025 held on Friday. Bumrah received the Polly Umrigar Award for the Best Men’s International Cricketer, while Mandhana claimed the Best Women’s International Cricketer award, marking her third win in this category.
The BCCI Awards, a longstanding annual ceremony since 2006-07, celebrates outstanding performances by cricketers over the past year. It also presents several other accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award to notable individuals in Indian cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah, who also bagged the Best Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year and Best Cricketer of the Year honours at the ICC Awards, was recognised for his incredible contributions. His 15 wickets and match-winning performances helped India clinch the T20 World Cup after 17 years. Bumrah ended 2024 as the highest wicket-taker in Tests, with 71 wickets in 13 matches. He has now won the Polly Umrigar Award three times, joining an elite group including Virat Kohli.
On the women’s side, Smriti Mandhana earned her third Best International Cricketer award, having previously won it in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. Mandhana enjoyed a standout year, scoring 747 runs at an impressive average of 57.46 in ODIs. She also set a new record for four ODI centuries in a calendar year, further cementing her status as a top performer in women’s cricket.
Other notable winners include Sarfaraz Khan for Best International Debut (Men) and Asha Sobhana for Best International Debut (Women). Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was presented with the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, a fitting tribute to his legendary career.
