BSP to Go Solo in Bihar Assembly Elections, Mayawati Announces

On Sunday, Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), said that her party would run in the next Bihar Assembly elections on its own, without any coalitions. The decision was made after a two-day conference of high-level party members where they talked about how ready the party was and established a thorough plan for the elections.

Mayawati revealed in a post on X, which used to be called Twitter, that the party has talked about picking candidates and getting ready for the elections, which are coming up soon. The head of the BSP said that a series of party yatras and public meetings will start at the beginning of next month. She will be in charge of all of them.

Mayawati has given the party’s national coordinator, Akash Anand, along with Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam and the BSP’s Bihar state unit, the job of overseeing the preparations. The party has split Bihar into three zones on purpose, with top figures in charge of each one.

The announcement comes after Mayawati publicly reinstated her nephew, Akash Anand, who she had temporarily kicked out of all party roles in March. After he apologized in public in April, he was given the job of chief national coordinator again. Recent sources say that he has been promoted to national convener, which is the second most prominent post in the party hierarchy.

BSP leaders have told Mayawati that the party is ready to do better in Bihar, pointing to the state’s “rapidly changing political conditions and electoral equations.” It is said that the party is also bolstering its organizational committees in Odisha and Telangana, using the successful model from Uttar Pradesh as a guide.
