New Delhi [India], May 13: The family of BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz, who was martyred during cross-border shelling in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir, will receive a compensation of ₹50 lakh, according to an official release.
The amount includes ₹29 lakh from the Bihar Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and ₹21 lakh from the state government. Sub-Inspector Imtiaz, a native of Narayanpur village in Saran district, Bihar, lost his life on May 10 due to heavy shelling from across the border.
His last rites were performed on May 12 with full state honours in his hometown, in the presence of officials and grieving locals. The ceremony paid tribute to his supreme sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the nation.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav visited the bereaved family and offered heartfelt condolences. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“We have paid tribute to Bihar’s brave son, Mohammad Imtiaz, who laid down his life for the nation. I met his son, and I’ll meet the rest of the family tomorrow. We salute the Indian Army for always giving a befitting reply to Pakistan.”
Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also paid homage to the fallen soldier. In a post on social media platform X, CM Nitish wrote:
“Salute to BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz Ji, a resident of Narayanpur, Saran district, Bihar, who was martyred in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. The nation will always remember his martyrdom. I am deeply saddened. Heartfelt condolences to his family.”
The Chief Minister also confirmed that the martyr’s next of kin will receive an official honorarium and that the funeral was conducted with police honours, coordinated by the state government.
