Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) [India], May 24: The Border Security Force (BSF) continues to maintain a heightened presence along the international border in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, under the ongoing Operation Sindoor, aimed at neutralising threats and safeguarding national security.
BSF personnel are operating on high alert to prevent any cross-border incursions or attacks. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yogendra Singh Rathore of Jaisalmer BSF reiterated the force’s vital role as the nation’s frontline defenders.
“BSF is the first line of defence and is always alert on the border,” DIG Rathore stated. “Even during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and the Kargil conflict, BSF proved its effectiveness. Following the April 22 terrorist attack that took innocent lives, we stood by the government’s decision and prepared ourselves for any retaliatory or preventive actions.”
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK). The operation saw coordinated efforts by the BSF and the Indian Armed Forces to neutralise enemy threats and send a strong message.
BSF officer Jaipal Singh highlighted the successful neutralisation of increased drone activities during the operation. “The enemy deployed drones and shells, but we countered them effectively using our equipment. The Indian Air Force also did commendable work by targeting Pakistani airbases and damaging enemy infrastructure. This is a matter of great pride for us,” he said.
The operation demonstrated the BSF’s coordination with the Indian Air Force and their ability to adapt to modern threats, particularly from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Following sustained military action, both nations agreed to halt further escalation after a formal communication between Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) and his Indian counterpart.
Despite the current pause in hostilities, the BSF continues to maintain full vigilance along the border to ensure national security.
