Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the International Boundary in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday night, adding to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The infiltration attempt occurred around 11:00 PM on May 8, as confirmed in an official BSF Jammu post on X:
“At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K.”
This comes amid heightened military activity, with the Indian Army also shooting down two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. These incidents took place during heavy artillery exchanges between Indian and Pakistani forces.
Pakistan has also attempted missile and drone attacks targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur—all near the International Border. According to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, the threats were successfully neutralized, with no reported casualties.
In response to these escalating threats, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting with the Director Generals of all border guarding forces on Thursday. The meeting focused on ensuring the preparedness of Indian forces following Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks on key areas, including Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia, and Jaisalmer.
Shah also reviewed airport security nationwide with the CISF Chief, in view of increased alert levels at strategic infrastructure points.
These incidents follow India’s launch of “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, in which the Indian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The action targeted terror infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 28 civilians.
