BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham And SI Md Imteyaz Martyred Amid Escalating Cross-Border Tensions; Indian Army Strikes Kill 35+ Pakistani Troops

Tensions along the India-Pakistan border continue to escalate, with the Border Security Force (BSF) confirming the deaths of two personnel in cross-border firing initiated by the Pakistan Rangers in the RS Pura area of Jammu division.

Constable Deepak Chingakham Succumbs to Injuries

In a solemn update, the BSF announced the passing of Constable Deepak Chingakham on May 11, 2025, a day after he was critically injured during a cross-border firing incident along the International Boundary.

“DG BSF and All Ranks salute the supreme sacrifice made by Constable Deepak Chingakham in the line of duty,” the BSF said in a post on X.
Prahari Pariwar stands firm with the bereaved family in these trying times,” it added.

Chingakham was retrieving supplies when he was struck during a sudden barrage of fire, according to initial reports.

Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz Also Killed

Earlier, BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz had also lost his life in a similar exchange of fire in RS Pura, prompting Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to pay his respects and extend condolences to the grieving family.

Operation Sindoor: Indian Army’s Heavy Response

Amidst these developments, DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai revealed that Operation Sindoor, launched in response to Pakistani airspace violations and aggression, has inflicted heavy casualties on the Pakistan Army.

“The Pakistan Army has reportedly lost 35–40 personnel between May 7 and 10 on the **Line of Control (LoC),” Ghai said at a press conference.

He further explained that the Indian Army used heavier weapons to target terror-oriented infrastructure, including camps in PoK and Punjab province, after Pakistani forces attempted air intrusions on Indian installations.

“We practised restraint and self-imposed restrictions. We did not target civilian establishments,” he clarified.

Ghai also said that while 35–40 Pakistani soldiers were confirmed dead, more casualties are likely, with assessment ongoing due to continued air and artillery engagements.

Key Developments:

  • BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham and SI Md Imteyaz killed in RS Pura cross-border firing.
  • J&K LG Manoj Sinha pays homage to the martyrs.
  • Indian Armed Forces respond under “Operation Sindoor”, causing 35–40 Pakistani casualties.
  • DGMO Ghai emphasizes restraint and precision in targeting only terror-linked infrastructure.
