Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has criticized the Congress-led Telangana government over the rising crime rates against women, citing a 10% increase in the overall crime rate. She alleged that women’s safety has been neglected under the current administration.
Speaking to media, Kavitha highlighted alarming statistics, stating, “In Telangana today, every third hour there is a rape case and every fifth hour, there is a kidnapping case happening. This is really unfortunate. This was never the situation.“
Kavitha accused the Congress government of failing to prioritize women’s safety, pointing to the lack of initiatives like the ‘She Teams’ that her party had implemented earlier.
“We had created ‘She Teams,’ which focus on preventing petty crimes against women to stop heinous crimes from occurring. However, this government does not seem to care about women at all. They have forgotten all the promises they made for women. We demand that the Chief Minister intervene and conduct a proper review of women’s safety in the state,” she said.
Kavitha also took aim at the Congress and BJP for what she called a failure to address the development needs of the Nizamabad region.
“There is absolutely no talk of development and fulfilment of promises by the Congress government in Nizamabad. The BJP MP here has never asked about Telangana in Parliament, nor has he done any new development in Telangana or Nizamabad,” she remarked.
Expressing dissatisfaction with both national parties, she said, “People are fed up with both Congress and BJP. Neither party has shown any commitment to the needs of the people in this region.”
K Kavitha’s remarks come as the political temperature rises in Telangana, with women’s safety and regional development emerging as critical issues in the political discourse.
