Horror Film ‘Bring Her Back’ Drops First Trailer, Set For May 30 Release

Washington DC [US]: The much-anticipated horror film Bring Her Back has officially released its first full trailer, offering a chilling glimpse into its eerie supernatural premise.

The film is directed by Australian twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, the duo behind the hit horror film Talk to Me. According to Deadline, the directors have described Bring Her Back as a “spiritual successor” to their previous work.

The gripping one-minute-forty-second trailer introduces two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins as a grieving mother struggling to cope with the loss of her child. In one haunting moment, a character asks Hawkins how she managed to deal with the tragedy, to which she replies, “I didn’t.” She then reveals her secret—she has communicated with an angel who can help her bring her child back. The film revolves around a terrifying supernatural ritual that seeks to reunite her with her lost child.

Cast and Production

Scheduled for release in U.S. theaters on May 30, Bring Her Back follows a brother and sister who stumble upon a horrifying ritual in their new foster mother’s home. Alongside Sally Hawkins, the film stars Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, and Jonah Wren Phillips.

The screenplay was co-written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman. The project was co-financed by Salmira Productions and the South Australian Film Corporation, with Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton producing the film under Causeway Films—the same team behind Talk to Me. Filming wrapped up in Australia last summer.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has secured international rights, excluding Canada, China, Japan, and Russia. Meanwhile, A24 retains domestic distribution rights.

A Spiritual Successor to ‘Talk to Me’

Danny and Michael Philippou first gained widespread recognition with Talk to Me, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023. The film became A24’s highest-grossing horror movie, earning over $92 million worldwide on a modest $4.5 million budget. It told the story of teenagers who discovered a sinister way to communicate with spirits using a mysterious embalmed hand.

With Bring Her Back, the Philippou brothers aim to build on their reputation for crafting uniquely unsettling horror experiences. Fans of supernatural thrillers can now mark their calendars for May 30 as another eerie chapter in horror filmmaking unfolds.
