Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a nail-biting IPL 2025 encounter at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, thanks to a fiery knock by Dewald Brevis and a composed finish from MS Dhoni.

Chasing 180 for victory, CSK were rocked early with Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway dismissed for ducks. But debutant Urvil Patel injected momentum with a blazing 31 off 11 balls, which included four sixes, before being dismissed by Harshit Rana.

CSK stumbled to 60/5 after failures from Ashwin and Jadeja, but Dewald Brevis (52 off 25) and Shivam Dube (45 off 40) resurrected the innings with a critical 67-run partnership. Brevis’ blitz included a 30-run over off Vaibhav Arora, turning the tide in CSK’s favor.

After Brevis fell to Varun Chakravarthy, veteran MS Dhoni joined Dube to add 43 runs and anchor the chase. With 8 needed off the final over, Dhoni dispatched Andre Russell’s first ball for a six before Anshul Kamboj sealed the win with a boundary.

Dhoni remained unbeaten on 17 off 18, calmly guiding CSK to 183/8 in 19.4 overs.
Earlier, KKR posted 179/6 after opting to bat first. Ajinkya Rahane (48) and Sunil Narine (26) gave KKR a solid start, while Andre Russell (38 off 21) and Manish Pandey (36 off 28)* added late fireworks.
For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler with 4/31, while Anshul Kamboj and Ravindra Jadeja picked up a wicket each.
