Brass Plates Chronicling Ram Janmbhoomi Movement Installed In Ayodhya Temple; ‘Surya Tilak’ Shines On Ram Navami

In a historic moment for devotees and historians alike, brass plates chronicling the entire history of the Ram Janmbhoomi movement have been installed in the Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The installation marks a significant effort to preserve the legacy and journey of one of India’s most spiritually and culturally pivotal movements.

The announcement coincides with the grand Ram Navami celebrations held on April 6, where the temple witnessed a spectacular and spiritual phenomenon — the ‘Surya Tilak’ — a beam of sunlight that illuminated the forehead of the idol of Ram Lalla at precisely noon, forming a divine tilak. The event attracted thousands of pilgrims and viewers, both in person and online.

In the evening, more than 2.5 lakh earthen lamps (diyas) lit up the banks of the Saryu River at Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, adding to the divine ambience and turning Ayodhya into a city of lights.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra’s Temple Construction Committee Chairman, Nripendra Misra, confirmed that the construction of the Ram Temple complex is on track for completion by April-end.
“All of the statues in the temples that are outside or inside the rampart will be here by 30 April, and almost all of them will be installed between 25 March and 15 April,” Misra noted.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, was officially inaugurated during the Pran Pratishta ceremony performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024.

The temple dimensions are awe-inspiring:

  • Length: 380 feet
  • Width: 250 feet
  • Height: 161 feet
  • Pillars: 392
  • Doors: 44

Each pillar and wall of the temple showcases intricate carvings of Hindu deities, Gods, and Goddesses. At the heart of the sanctum sanctorum lies the idol of Ram Lalla, representing Lord Ram in his childhood form. The 51-inch tall, 1.5-tonne idol was sculpted by renowned artist Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka, with Lord Ram portrayed as a 5-year-old standing atop a lotus platform, both carved from the same stone.

With divine spectacles like the Surya Tilak, the installation of historical brass plates, and the temple nearing full completion, Ayodhya is emerging as a radiant beacon of devotion and heritage in the heart of India.
