BPSC TRE 3.0 Aspirants Baton-Charged During Protest Outside Bihar CM’s Residence Over Result Discrepancies

Patna (Bihar) [India]: Tensions flared in Patna on Tuesday as aspirants of the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE) 3.0 staged a protest outside the official residence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, demanding the release of supplementary results and clarity on 21,000 unaccounted vacancies. The protest escalated after demonstrators entered a restricted area, prompting police to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Visuals from the scene captured police forcibly removing women protesters, with allegations surfacing that some were also subjected to baton charges. Meanwhile, male protesters were seen being beaten with batons as law enforcement moved to clear the area.

The primary demand of the protesters revolves around discrepancies in the declared BPSC TRE 3.0 results, where out of 87,774 advertised posts, results for only 66,000 positions were released, leaving a shortfall of 21,000 unexplained vacancies. Aspirants also cited duplicate entries in the merit list, with reports claiming a single candidate appeared in three separate lists.

“We just want transparency. If the supplementary results are ready, they should be made public. Vacancies keep coming but seats remain empty,” said a woman protester.

This is not the first demonstration over the BPSC results. In March, aspirants had protested continuously for over 50 days in Patna, voicing similar concerns. The matter had also drawn the attention of Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who met a delegation of aspirants and assured them that he would instruct relevant officials to look into the issue.

While the matter was escalated to the Supreme Court, the court refused to intervene, dismissing a related plea regarding the preliminary examination.

The current protest underscores growing frustration among BPSC aspirants over the lack of transparency and delayed communication from the authorities, as thousands continue to await clarity on their future amid unresolved recruitment chaos.
