Sunny Deol’s powerful return to the Border universe has clearly struck a chord with audiences. With Border 2 delivering a stellar box-office performance, speculation around a third instalment has gained momentum — and now, producer Bhushan Kumar has finally addressed the buzz around Border 3.
Is Border 3 Happening?
While Border 3 has not yet been officially greenlit, Bhushan Kumar confirmed that the franchise is far from over. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the T-Series head said the overwhelming response to Border 2 makes a continuation inevitable.
“Obviously, it is such a big franchise. If you bring something back after almost 30 years and it is getting so much love, we will definitely take it forward,” Bhushan said.
The upcoming Border 3 will once again be a joint venture between Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta’s JP Films, continuing the legacy of the iconic war saga. However, the project remains in the early development stage, with the director yet to be finalised.
Bhushan also clarified that despite Border 2’s success, the third film will not go on floors immediately.
Bhushan Kumar and Anurag Singh’s Next Film Comes First
Before Border 3 materialises, Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Singh are set to collaborate on another project that was being discussed even before Border 2 took shape.
Sharing details about the plan, Bhushan revealed, “We are doing a joint venture with his company and my company. He’ll be directing, and it will be something new. Border 3 will happen in due course.”
He added that the upcoming project follows ideas that were already in motion prior to Border 2. “We will continue what we were discussing even before Border 2 came into the picture. Now is the time for that,” he said.
Border 2’s Dream Run at the Box Office
Meanwhile, Border 2 continues its impressive run at the box office. Headlined by Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty, the war drama has crossed ₹180 crore domestically, successfully clearing the crucial Monday test.
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta and Krishan Kumar, the film has firmly established itself as one of the biggest hits of the year, reigniting interest in one of Bollywood’s most celebrated franchises.
