Washington [US], January 24: The highly anticipated trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi film Mickey 17 has finally dropped, offering a glimpse into the thrilling adventure ahead.
Starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role, the film also features an ensemble cast including Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, and Naomi Ackie.
The trailer introduces Mickey Barnes, played by Pattinson, who unknowingly accepts a job as an “expendable”—a position that involves repeatedly dying in order to save humanity. The film is based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7 and has been adapted for the screen by Bong Joon-ho, the Oscar-winning director of Parasite.
In a recent interview, Pattinson reflected on the challenges facing the film industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing strikes, which led many to believe that cinema was in decline. “The last few years for the film industry… everyone was saying cinema is dying. And quite convincingly,” he shared. He also expressed hope that Mickey 17 will be released during a time of renewed excitement for cinema, citing recent films he’s enjoyed such as Armand and The Brutalist.
Fans can now look forward to what promises to be an unforgettable sci-fi journey when Mickey 17 hits theaters.
