Bombay High Court To Hear Petition For Fresh Probe In Disha Salian’s Death On April 2

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 22: The Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing for April 2 regarding the writ petition filed by Satish Salian, father of Disha Salian, seeking a fresh probe into his daughter’s death. Disha Salian, who was the former manager of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was found dead on June 8, 2020.

In his petition, Satish Salian is demanding a new investigation into the death and the interrogation of Aditya Thackeray, a leader of UBT-Shiv Sena. Thackeray, who has been linked to the case in public discussions, responded to these allegations, refuting the claims and stating that he would reserve his comments until the matter is addressed in court. Thackeray also accused critics of attempting to defame him for the past five years, adding that he would address the legal matters only in the court proceedings.

The writ petition has been served to Sameer Wankhede, former NCB director during the investigation of the case, who is expected to file a detailed affidavit in court. His legal representative, Faizan Merchant, stated that the affidavit would address all the issues concerning Wankhede’s role in the investigation.

In 2023, the Mumbai Police formed a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate Disha Salian’s death, which had been originally classified as an accidental death. Her father, however, has asked the court to direct the registration of an FIR against Aditya Thackeray and to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Disha Salian’s death came just days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic passing on June 14, 2020. Rajput’s death also sparked significant controversy, with investigations eventually being handed over to the CBI. The postmortem report of Sushant Singh Rajput indicated asphyxia as the cause of death.

The legal proceedings around both deaths continue to attract significant attention, with the public and media closely following the developments.
