Bollywood Shines Bright at 71st National Film Awards: Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji Honored

NEW DELHI, INDIA — On Friday, August 1, 2025, the 71st National Film Awards revealed a tremendous win for Bollywood. Many of its greatest performers and best movies won important awards. Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey split the Best Actor prize, while Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award. The highly praised movie “12th Fail” won Best Feature Film, and Karan Johar’s colorful “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

The happiness of these achievements was felt deeply by the cinema community and by family members. On Saturday, August 2, Gauri Khan, a businesswoman and the wife of Shah Rukh Khan, posted on social media to show how proud and happy she was for the three well-known winners.

Gauri Khan posted two images of herself smiling to show how happy she was with the National Awards announcement. The first picture was a nice selfie of Gauri with her husband, Shah Rukh Khan, and close friend, Rani Mukerji. They were all smiling. The second picture showed Rani Mukerji snapping a selfie with Karan Johar and Gauri, showing how close they were.

Gauri added in her passionate post, “Three of my absolute favorites just WON big…and so did our hearts ❤️ When talent and goodness come together, magic happens. I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to boast about them forever! This post showed how close the people in this group are, even outside of work.

Individual Awards and Film Awards
The awards honored great acting and narrative in movies from 2023:

Shah Rukh Khan won his first National Film Award for Best Actor for his strong role in the action-thriller “Jawan.”

Vikrant Massey won the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in “12th Fail,” a biographical film on the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award for her highly praised performance in “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway.” This was her first National Film Award in her 30-year career.

“12th Fail,” directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, won the Best Actor award for Vikrant Massey and the Best Feature Film award, making it a major cinematic success.

The Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment was went to Karan Johar’s “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.” The song “Dhindhora Baje Re,” which was choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, also won the award for Best Choreography.

“The Kerala Story” by Sudipto Sen received Best Direction.

“Sam Bahadur,” directed by Meghna Gulzar, won Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values. It also won Best Make-Up Artist and Best Costume Design.

Shilpa Rao received Best Female Playback Singer for her song “Chaleya” from the movie “Jawan.”

The Best Supporting Actor award went to Vijayaraghavan for “Pookkaalam” (Malayalam) and Muthupettai Somu Bhaskar for “Parking” (Tamil).

Urvashi won the Best Supporting Actress award for “Ullozhukku” (Malayalam) and Janki Bodiwala won it for “Vash” (Gujarati).

“Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery” got the award for Best Hindi Film.

Suhana Khan Celebrates Her Father’s Birthday with Family

The younger generation also joined in on the fun. Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh and Gauri’s daughter, wrote a touching homage to her father’s big achievement. She posted a cute black and white image of a little Suhana being held by her father. Suhana added in her caption, “No one tells them like you. From bedtime stories to stories that leave a mark.” Congrats, I love you the most ❤️ @iamsrk.

Suhana Khan will make her first movie appearance with her father, Shah Rukh Khan, in the upcoming movie “King.” Her last movie was “The Archies” by Zoya Akhtar, which was her first acting role.

The 71st National Film Awards acknowledged movies that the CBFC approved between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. This was a way to honor a year of Indian cinema that was diverse and had an influence.
