Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] : As tensions escalate along the Indo-Pak border following drone and missile attacks repelled by the Indian Armed Forces, prominent Bollywood personalities have taken to social media to express solidarity with the nation and appreciation for the bravery of the armed forces.
The surge of support comes in response to the Indian Army’s successful neutralisation of over 50 Pakistani drones during a large-scale counter-drone operation along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB) on the night of May 8-9. Pakistani forces had attempted to infiltrate Indian territory using swarm drones across key regions including Jammu and Pathankot.
Actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut posted a video on Instagram capturing the Indian Army’s defensive action, captioned:
“Jammu On Target! Indian Air Defence Neutralises Pakistan Drone in #Jammu. Stay strong #jammu.”
Actor and comedian Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“To family, friends and more who sit in blackouts as we speak, thinking of you, praying for you. To those protecting them, we thank you. Gratitude, prayers and respect. Be safe, be strong.”
South Indian actor Varun Konidela also paid tribute via Instagram:
“More power to our brave Indian Army defending against the attacks of the perpetrators with unwavering valour. We stand united in support and pray for your safety. Jai Hind.”
Actress Shraddha Kapoor shared a heartfelt message on Instagram:
“Proud of our protectors. Jai Hind.”
Veteran actor Anupam Kher posted a video from his cousin’s home in blackout-hit Jammu. Sharing the reassuring words from his relative, he wrote:
“Bhaiya! Hum Bharat mein hain! Hum Hindustani hain. Hamari suraksha Bharatiya Sena aur Mata Vaishno Devi kar rahi hain. Aap tension mat lo. Waise bhi koi bhi missile hum zameen par nahi lagne de rahe.”
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar echoed national sentiment, urging unity and strength:
“It’s going to be a long night ahead. Let’s stand united with our Armed Forces; may their strength and courage prevail. #SupportOurTroops #StayUnited #IndianArmy #OperationSindoor2”
On Friday, the Indian Army confirmed that the drone attacks and ceasefire violations were effectively neutralised, and stated that Operation Sindoor, launched on May 8, had successfully destroyed nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) reiterated the Army’s resolve:
“Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force.”
The outpouring of support from the film industry has resonated deeply with citizens across the country, reinforcing a united front amid a volatile security climate.
