Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 11: The Indian film industry paid heartfelt tributes to legendary makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad, who passed away in Mumbai on Saturday. Renowned for his transformative work in Hindi and Marathi cinema, Gaikwad was widely respected not only for his technical brilliance but also for his humility and dedication.
A longtime collaborator with top Bollywood stars, Gaikwad’s passing has left a void in the industry. Actor Aamir Khan, who worked with Gaikwad in films like Dangal, PK, and Rang De Basanti, released a touching statement via Aamir Khan Productions.
“It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to the legendary makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad… He was a true master of his craft… Heartfelt condolences to the family from me and everyone at AKP. We will miss you, Dada,” Aamir said.

Actor Ranveer Singh, who collaborated with Gaikwad on 83, paid tribute by sharing his photo on Instagram with a simple caption: “Dada” along with a dove and folded hands emoji.

Varun Dhawan, who worked with him on Badlapur, described Gaikwad as a “true magician.”
“He helped me design my look in every detail… A true magician who pushed Indian cinema ahead.”

Arjun Kapoor recalled working with Gaikwad on Panipat, calling him “a gentle soul with a gracious stroke of genius.”
Parineeti Chopra also expressed her admiration:
“It was an honor to work with you, learn from you, and see your magic. Eternally in awe of you.”
Gaikwad began his career with the film Sardar and rose to prominence with his expert ability to bring characters to life through makeup. His extensive filmography includes Uri: The Surgical Strike, 3 Idiots, Omkara, Delhi-6, Ishqiya, Kaminey, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. In Marathi cinema, his work on historical epics like Lokmanya, Fatteshikast, and Sher Shivraj earned him high acclaim.
