New Delhi: People in India who love luxury cars have something to celebrate. BMW India has officially said that it will lower the costs of all of its cars and SUVs. This is because the GST rate has recently gone down, and the company wants to pass on the savings to its customers. Starting on September 22, the revised prices will go into effect. Depending on the model, BMWs will be cheaper by anywhere from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
After the most recent meeting of the GST Council, which made big changes to the tax system for cars in India, the German car company made its choice. GST on smaller automobiles and two-wheelers went down from 28% to 18%. However, larger cars and SUVs, including luxury cars, are now in a new, simpler slab with a flat 40% GST. This is a big change because formerly, premium cars were taxed at a total rate of up to 50% because of a high compensation cess. The government has made luxury cars more affordable for people by getting rid of this cess and imposing a flat 40% rate.
The BMW X7 SUV, which is the most popular model, has the biggest price drop. Its price will drop by about ₹9 lakh, lowering the total from ₹1.34 crore to ₹1.25 crore, which is a more reasonable price. Other models will also witness big price drops. For example, the BMW 5 Series will be about ₹4 lakh cheaper.
BMW India’s strategic move is likely to shake up the luxury car industry, which could lead other high-end car makers to do the same to keep their market share. The price decrease came at the start of the holiday season, which should help sales and make people feel better about buying luxury goods.
A BMW India official recently confirmed the company’s dedication to the Indian market and its consumers by passing on all the benefits of the tax changes. This change not only makes the brand more appealing to potential purchasers, but it also makes it easier for dealers and customers to understand the prices.
