Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds To File A Motion Dismissing Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit

Los Angeles [US], February 1: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have informed a federal judge of their intention to file a motion to dismiss Justin Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit, according to Variety.

The legal dispute between the two stars of It Ends With Us will have its first hearing on Monday.

Lively had previously accused Baldoni, who also directed the film, of sexually harassing her on set and retaliating against her by launching a smear campaign when she spoke up. In response, Baldoni filed a defamation lawsuit against Lively.

Following instructions from Judge Lewis Liman, the couple’s legal team filed a notice on Thursday, indicating their plans to dismiss the lawsuit. Lively’s attorney, Michael J. Gottlieb, confirmed the move in the notice, stating, “The Lively-Reynolds Parties intend to move to dismiss Plaintiffs’ complaint.”

Liman has not yet set a deadline for the official motion. Publicist Leslie Sloane, who is also named as a defendant in Baldoni’s lawsuit, filed a similar notice on Wednesday.

A trial may be scheduled as early as March 2026, with both parties agreeing to consolidate two federal cases into a single trial. During Monday’s hearing, attorneys are expected to address the conduct of Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, whom Lively’s legal team accuses of making public statements that could influence the jury. Freedman, however, has defended his right to speak publicly about the case.

Baldoni’s legal team has also requested to depose Lively as soon as possible, but claims that Lively’s attorneys are blocking the deposition, citing “unspecified statements” made by Freedman.
