New Delhi [India], December 10: BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla sharply criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of hypocrisy for spending Rs 4 crore on a lavish bath while Delhi’s residents struggle to access clean drinking water.
Poonawalla stated, “While Delhi’s citizens lack access to clean drinking water, Arvind Kejriwal has indulged in a royal bath worth Rs 4 crore. This is the same person who claimed he would live in a modest two-bedroom house and avoid VIP services. It’s now clear why he didn’t want to leave his ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ why the media was barred from entering his residence, and why Atishi Marlena used various tactics to secure the keys to the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ Corruption also played a role in such extravagant expenditures.”
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also weighed in, calling Kejriwal’s residence, dubbed the ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ a “blot on democracy.” Khandelwal argued that the opulence of Kejriwal’s residence contradicted the image of the “common man” that the AAP leader had built.
The controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s residence escalated after BJP state President Virendraa Sachdeva released a video purportedlyshowing the lavish interiors of the house. Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of corruption, alleging that the “Sheesh Mahal” symbolizes ill-gotten wealth.
Sachdeva also criticized the Delhi government as a “government of scams” and suggested that Kejriwal should open his residence to the public. “The ‘Sheesh Mahal’ should be opened to the people. I challenge Kejriwal to let the citizens of Delhi see how he has deceived them. This isn’t a CM residence; it’s a museum of corruption. The people of Delhi deserve answers,” he added.
