BJP’s Sambit Patra Hits Back At Arvind Kejriwal’s Allegations Of Voter Bribing

New Delhi [India], February 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra responded to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s accusations that the BJP is distributing money to voters in an attempt to influence the Delhi Assembly election, which is set to take place on February 5. Patra dismissed the allegations, instead accusing Kejriwal and his party of indulging in electoral fraud.During a press conference, Patra said, “This is what you (Arvind Kejriwal) do—creating fake voters, double voting. You have done corruption in every department.” He added that such practices were typical of Kejriwal and the AAP, not the BJP.Earlier, Kejriwal claimed that he had received several calls informing him about BJP workers distributing money to voters in the Delhi slums. “Today, I have received many calls from jhuggis, their (BJP) party is going door to door, asking people to take Rs 3000, and the Election Commission will facilitate home voting. I was shocked when I heard this,” Kejriwal had said.Patra also pointed to an alleged land grab involving AAP leader Somnath Bharti’s close friend in Jaitpur, which he claimed was connected to corruption within the party. “An MLA and candidate of AAP, Somnath Bharti’s close friend grabbed a piece of land in Jaitpur. There is a sting operation in which everything has been recorded, where the AAP MLA is warning the investigating officer,” Patra said.Patra continued, attacking Kejriwal’s language, stating, “The kind of language Arvind Kejriwal is using – is not hidden from the people… PM Modi has aptly named AAP ‘AAP-da’ – ‘is AAP-da ki sabse badi sampada bhrashtachar hai’ (the biggest asset of AAP is corruption).”Meanwhile, Kejriwal responded by writing a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, alleging that AAP workers in the New Delhi Assembly constituency were being intimidated and harassed by BJP workers and the Delhi Police in the run-up to the elections. In the letter, Kejriwal expressed his concern about unlawful detentions, physical abuse, and wrongful bookings of AAP volunteers. The Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 5, with the vote counting scheduled for February 8. Kejriwal is contesting the elections from the New Delhi constituency against Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Verma
