The first session of the newly elected Delhi Legislative Assembly will be held on February 24, beginning with the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected MLAs at 11:00 AM. The election of the Speaker will take place at 2:00 PM on the same day.
According to the Delhi assembly bulletin, LG Saxena will address the assembly on February 25, after which the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports will be tabled. Following the tabling of these reports, the assembly will discuss the motion of thanks for the LG’s address. On February 26, the discussion on the motion of thanks will continue at 11:00 AM, and the election for the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly will take place.
“Notice of motion for the election of the speaker can be given up to Saturday, February 22, 2025, before noon to the secretary, legislative assembly,” the bulletin further stated.
Earlier in the week, BJP leader Rekha Gupta, who was sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister, chaired her first cabinet meeting and announced two key decisions: the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi with a Rs 5 lakh top-up and the tabling of the 14 pending CAG reports in the first legislative sitting.
Addressing the press, Rekha Gupta stated that the Delhi government would implement the Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat scheme as part of fulfilling the BJP’s pre-poll promise, which had targeted the AAP government for not rolling out the scheme.
“We will also table the 14 CAG reports that were not tabled by the previous AAP government. In the first Cabinet meeting, we discussed and passed these two significant agendas – implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme with a Rs 5 lakh top-up and tabling the CAG reports in the first assembly session,” Gupta said.
She added that the Delhi government will bear the cost for the top-up and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for the implementation of the scheme.
