New Delhi [India], January 17: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda launched the party’s Delhi Assembly election manifesto, or ‘Sankalp Patra’, on Friday, highlighting key promises aimed at improving the capital’s development.
The BJP pledged to provide Rs 2,500 every month to women in Delhi under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. In addition, the party assured that it would continue all welfare schemes currently in place in the national capital.
A major promise from the BJP was the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme for 51 lakh people in Delhi, offering health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh. Nadda emphasized that this would be done in the first Cabinet meeting after forming the government, addressing those who have been deprived of the benefits under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration.
Referring to the manifesto as a ‘foundation for a developed Delhi,’ Nadda expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the upcoming assembly elections. He explained that the ‘Sankalp Patra’ was created after gathering nearly 1.8 lakh feedbacks from constituents through 12,000 meetings and 41 LED Vans deployed for outreach.
Nadda also criticized the AAP government, particularly for alleged corruption within its flagship Mohalla Clinics. He claimed that the clinics were “dens of corruption” and accused AAP of running fraudulent lab tests, citing a Rs 300 crore scam. He promised a thorough investigation into these issues if the BJP forms the government.
The BJP leader further criticized AAP for failing to deliver on promises made in Punjab, including the Rs 2,100 monthly financial aid, and highlighted that similar pledges had also not been fulfilled in Delhi.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. The contest is expected to be a three-way battle between the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress.
