BJP To Launch ‘Sankalp Patra’ For Delhi Assembly polls, Today

New Delhi [India]: The BJP National President, JP Nadda, is set to unveil the party’s manifesto, “Sankalp Patra Part – I,” for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. The event will take place on Friday at 2 PM at the BJP State Office.

On Thursday, the BJP released its fourth list of nine candidates, bringing the total announced candidates to 68 out of 70 seats, leaving two seats for its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies.
The Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have been allocated one seat each. JD(U) will contest from the Burari constituency, fielding Shailendra Kumar, while LJP is expected to announce its candidate for the Deoli assembly seat soon. Both JD(U) and LJP are prominent BJP allies, especially in Bihar, which also faces elections this year.

The BJP has fielded several high-profile candidates for the Delhi elections, including:

  • Dushyant Gautam from Karol Bagh
  • Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden
  • Arvinder Singh Lovely, a former Delhi Congress chief, from Gandhi Nagar
  • Parvesh Verma, a former MP and son of ex-Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, who will contest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.

Meanwhile, the Congress has nominated Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, to contest from the New Delhi seat. BJP has also announced Ramesh Bidhuri, a former MP, to contest from Kalkaji against AAP’s Atishi.

The election promises a three-way battle between the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress. Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, has failed to secure any seats in the last two elections. In contrast, AAP dominated the 2020 elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP secured eight.

All major parties have nearly finalized their candidates, with Congress declaring 68 candidates and AAP announcing its full list for all 70 seats.

Key election dates:

  • Last date for filing nominations: January 17
  • Scrutiny of nominations: January 18
  • Last date for withdrawal: January 20
  • Election date: February 5 (single phase)
  • Counting of votes: February 8
