New Delhi [India], April 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Gaurav Bhatia and Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over a controversial social media post that depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a headless image. Bhatia termed the Congress’s action “extremely sad and worrisome,” accusing the party of displaying “two faces” and likening it to “Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress.”
Speaking to ANI, Gaurav Bhatia said, “Even though Congress is an Indian political party, it constantly reveals its two faces and transforms into Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress. Congress tweeted a headless image of PM Narendra Modi at a time when the Prime Minister has given a strong message to Pakistan.”
Referring to Congress’s social media post, which featured empty clothes with no visible body and the caption ‘Jimmedariyo ke samay – Gayab’ (At the time of responsibility – Vanished), Bhatia alleged, “’Sar tan se juda’ has been the ideology of Congress. By releasing such a picture, Congress has given a message to Pakistan. Pakistanis greatly appreciate this tweet by Congress.”
Bhatia further questioned why Congress leaders were silent on the matter, despite claiming to stand with the government on issues of national importance.
Joining the attack, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla likened Congress’s actions to Pakistan’s People’s Party (PPP), accusing it of sharing the same “culture and mindset.”
“It’s clear now that the Congress party has become like Pakistan’s PPP. Both speak the same language. Congress leaders like Siddaramaiah and Akhilesh Yadav have made statements that are widely circulated in Pakistani media,” Poonawalla said.
He also criticised Congress for, in his view, giving “a clean chit” to Pakistan in incidents like the Pahalgam terror attack, Pulwama, and even the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
“Congress is now promoting a mentality that distances the government from terrorism and deflects blame onto Hindus, just like Pakistan does,” Poonawalla claimed.
The controversy comes at a sensitive time, following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. The BJP has accused Congress of undermining national unity at a critical moment.
Congress has yet to issue an official clarification regarding the contentious post.
