BJP Slams Congress Over Colonial Mindset, Criticizes Communalism, Appeasement, And Nepotism

New Delhi [India], March 31: BJP leader Tarun Chugh has criticized the Congress party for what he described as a “colonial mindset,” accusing it of promoting communalism, appeasement, and nepotism.

Chugh stated that Congress, for nearly 60 years after India’s independence, kept the nation in a colonial mentality. Rather than highlighting the achievements of true Indian heroes, the party allegedly encouraged communalism, appeasement, and the nepotistic “slavery” within educational institutions. He further alleged that Congress introduced left-wing thinking into the country’s education system, while ignoring and insulting the efforts of those who fought for India’s freedom, creating a sense of contempt among the populace.

Chugh’s comments follow Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s defense of the National Education Policy (NEP). Fadnavis lauded the NEP as an effort to “Indianise” the country’s education system, countering Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s sharp critique of the policy. In a recent opinion piece, Sonia Gandhi accused the Centre of pushing forward its “three core agendas—centralisation, commercialisation, and communalisation.”

Fadnavis responded by urging Sonia Gandhi to learn more about the NEP, emphasizing that replacing the colonial-era education system introduced by Macaulay with a more Indianized approach should be supported by every patriot.

Meanwhile, tensions continue between the Central Government and the Tamil Nadu state government, led by Chief Minister Stalin, over the NEP’s proposed three-language formula and the delimitation exercise.
