BJP Secures Historic Victory In Delhi; Nadda Declares ‘Delhi Ke Dil Mein Modi Hai’

New Delhi [India]: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J P Nadda hailed the party’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, declaring that the results clearly show “Delhi ke dil mein Modi hai” (Modi resides in the heart of Delhi).

With this win, the BJP returns to power in Delhi after 27 years, ending over a decade of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule. The loss proved a major setback for AAP, with former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and three-time MLA Somnath Bharti all losing in their strongholds.

BJP’s Unprecedented Mandate

Celebrating at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Nadda addressed a massive crowd of party supporters chanting “Modi, Modi.”

“Today, the people have given a clear message. In the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi gave BJP all 7 seats, and now, in the assembly elections, you have given us 48 seats. The message is loud and clear – ‘Delhi ke Dil mein Modi hai’,” he declared.

Nadda credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for BJP’s sweeping success, not just in Delhi but across multiple state elections.

“At this historic moment, I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of all BJP workers. Under his leadership, BJP has been achieving back-to-back victories,” he added.

The BJP recently secured major wins in the Haryana Assembly elections (October 2024) and Maharashtra Assembly elections (November 2024), where it won 235 out of 288 seats in Maharashtra and secured a third consecutive term in Haryana.

Nadda Attacks AAP’s Governance

Launching a scathing attack on AAP, Nadda accused the party of misleading people and called it an “AAP-da” (disaster) for Delhi.

“They misled people in the name of education… These elections have given a clear message that the people of Delhi do not need such a party. ‘AAP-Da’ is a factory of lies and a factory for finding new ways to commit corruption,” he said.

Election Results and Vote Share

With BJP winning 48 of 70 seats, the party comfortably crossed the majority mark. In contrast, AAP secured only 22 seats, a significant drop from its 2020 performance when it won 62 seats.

The Congress, once a dominant force in Delhi, failed to win a single seat, marking its third consecutive zero tally in assembly elections. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years from 1998 to 2013, has struggled for a political revival.

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections recorded a 60.54% voter turnout.

  • BJP Vote Share: 45.56% (Approximately 43 lakh votes)
  • AAP Vote Share: 43.57% (Approximately 41 lakh votes)

BJP’s victory in Delhi marks another milestone in its continued dominance in national and state politics.
