New Delhi [India], February 7: Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva launched a sharp criticism of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, accusing them of losing their “mental balance.” This comes after the two leaders alleged that the BJP is attempting to poach AAP MLAs.
Sachdeva further warned AAP leaders of legal action if they failed to provide any evidence to support their claims. Speaking to ANI, Sachdeva said, “Be it Sanjay Singh or any other AAP leader, they have lost their mental balance. They will have to provide evidence for the mean allegations they have made. Delhi BJP is going to the Anti-Corruption Bureau to file a complaint against them. If they don’t provide evidence, they will face legal consequences. Atishi is still on bail in a similar case, and Arvind Kejriwal had apologized to our leaders. Now, it’s the turn of other AAP leaders. BJP is going to form a double-engine government in Delhi.”
The controversy began after Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of trying to lure 16 of AAP’s candidates to join the BJP. He claimed that these candidates were offered Rs. 15 crores each and promises of ministerial positions. Kejriwal questioned the need for such offers if the BJP was already predicted to win more than 55 seats according to fake surveys.
Sanjay Singh, speaking to ANI, echoed similar claims, stating that seven AAP MLAs had been contacted by the BJP and offered large sums of money. He further advised the MLAs to record such offers and make videos as proof. Singh also claimed that the BJP was losing the election by a significant margin.
Exit polls have varied in their predictions, with one suggesting the BJP could win between 51-60 out of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi, while two others predicted an AAP victory. Votes will be counted on February 8, with AAP seeking to maintain its dominance in the Delhi Assembly after winning the last two elections.
