BJP Poised For Victory In Delhi Assembly Polls: Virendra Sachdeva

New Delhi [India], February 8: With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) poised for a win in the Delhi Assembly elections, state BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva expressed confidence in the people’s support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Sachdeva stated that the voters of Delhi have shown immense faith in PM Modi, marking a significant victory for the BJP.

“This is a huge victory for us and the people of Delhi. PM Modi’s leadership has won the people’s trust. He will visit the party headquarters later this evening to address the workers,” Sachdeva said.

As election trends indicated a clear BJP win, jubilant party workers gathered outside the BJP office in New Delhi to celebrate, with visuals capturing them bursting firecrackers, singing, and dancing in delight. BJP leaders, including Sachdeva and party vice president Baijayant Panda, were also present at the office during the celebrations.

According to the Election Commission’s data around 1 pm, the BJP was leading in 47 constituencies, surpassing the majority mark of 36 required to form the government in Delhi’s 70-member assembly. The AAP was ahead in 22 seats, while Congress failed to secure a single seat.

Earlier in the day, Sachdeva criticized the governance model of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying, “The election was a contest between good governance and bad governance.” He cited issues like contaminated water, poor roads, sanitation, and pollution in the Yamuna River as evidence of Kejriwal’s failed leadership. In contrast, Sachdeva praised PM Modi’s governance, stating, “Modi ji’s model of good governance is one that the entire nation respects. People have chosen good governance.”

He also targeted AAP’s prominent leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, accusing them of betraying the public. “Their prominent leaders will lose because they have betrayed the people. These leaders are faces of corruption, and the people will not forgive them,” Sachdeva added.

Polling for the 70-member assembly took place on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54%. The BJP’s election campaign, led by PM Modi, focused on issues such as the polluted Yamuna River and the renovation of Kejriwal’s residence, using terms like “Aapda” (disaster) and “Sheesh Mahal” (palace) to criticize the AAP leadership.
