BJP Names Central Observers For Delhi CM Finalization; Oath Ceremony Scheduled For Tomorrow

New Delhi [India], February 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed former Union Ministers OP Dhankad and Ravi Shankar Prasad as central observers for the finalization of the Delhi Chief Minister’s (CM) nomination. They will attend the Delhi BJP Legislative Party meeting and announce the CM candidate afterward.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the appointment of Dhankad and Prasad, confirming that the two central observers will make the CM announcement at 7 pm today. Following the meeting, the official declaration will be made. Sachdeva also mentioned that the oath ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow at Ramlila Maidan, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of various states, auto-rickshaw drivers, laborers, and other prominent figures from civil society.

Earlier today, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh reviewed the final preparations for the ceremony. The oath-taking event is set for 11 am on February 20, with the formal ceremony beginning at 12:35 pm, when Lt Governor VK Saxena will administer the oath of office to the new Chief Minister and the cabinet.

Chugh emphasized that the occasion would be historic, as Delhi’s residents had sent a message by rejecting the previous administration and placing their trust in PM Modi’s leadership. He called it a significant moment for the future of Delhi, which would now move toward becoming a world-class capital.

Over 50 VIPs are expected at the event, including PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. State BJP Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will also be present. Along with the political figures, the ceremony will feature a cultural program, with about 30,000 guests invited, including RSS leaders, spiritual gurus, industrialists, celebrities, and BJP workers from other states who contributed to the Delhi Assembly elections. Notable guests will include Laddli Bahanas and Delhi farmers, symbolizing the event’s mass appeal.
