Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 6: Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Jaykumar Gore on Thursday filed a breach of privilege motion against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, NCP SP MLA Rohit Pawar, and a YouTube channel for allegedly spreading defamatory allegations against him. These allegations claimed that Gore harassed a woman and sent her inappropriate photos
In the Maharashtra Assembly, Minister Gore expressed that despite the court’s order to destroy all relevant evidence, these individuals continue to spread such information, attempting to defame him. He demanded that action be taken against those responsible for these allegations.
Minister Gore’s motion was supported by Sudhir Mungantiwar, who called for a decision to be made on the matter during the current session. Mungantiwar also emphasized the need for sharing information regarding all pending breach of privilege motions before the House.
Earlier, Gore had warned that he would file a breach of privilege motion and also take legal action by filing a defamation suit against those involved.
This motion comes amid increasing political tensions in Maharashtra. On Wednesday, the Opposition targeted Gore and demanded his resignation, following the resignation of NCP MLA Dhananjay Munde a day before. Munde resigned as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, following a controversy involving his aide, Walmik Karad, who was sent to judicial custody in connection with a Rs 2 crore extortion case linked to the murder of Beed district’s sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
In reaction to Munde’s resignation, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized the decision, stating that administering the oath of office to Dhananjay Munde was a significant mistake. Speaking to the media, Raut claimed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had called Munde and asked for his resignation, warning that failure to do so would lead to his dismissal.
In a separate development, NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Pawar on Wednesday demanded a thorough investigation into the Beed sarpanch’s murder case, suggesting that Munde’s name should be included as a co-accused in the FIR.
