BJP Launches ‘Waqf Reforms Awareness Campaign’ To Counter Misinformation And Strengthen Muslim Outreach

New Delhi [India], April 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a nationwide initiative titled the ‘Waqf Reforms Awareness Campaign’, set to run from April 20 to May 5, aiming to educate the Muslim community on the recent reforms to Waqf laws and counter alleged misinformation spread by the Congress and its allies.

The campaign was launched with a workshop held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where BJP National President JP Nadda addressed key party members. Emphasizing the potential benefits of the Waqf reforms, Nadda stated that the changes aim to ensure the effective and transparent use of Waqf properties, especially for improving access to education and healthcare for underprivileged Muslims.

Nadda accused the opposition of “appeasement politics” and misleading the community about the new legislation. “BJP workers will reach out to our Muslim brothers and sisters to expose the lies and share the real benefits of the Waqf reforms,” he stated.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju was also present and elaborated on the technical and social impacts of the reforms. Leaders from across India, including Minority Morcha Presidents of each state, were invited to attend the session. They have now been entrusted with conducting similar workshops in their respective regions to train district-level BJP cadres.

The campaign is also being viewed as a strategic outreach effort ahead of upcoming state elections, with the BJP aiming to bolster trust and engagement with the Muslim electorate by highlighting its policy changes and reform efforts.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, officially became law after receiving presidential assent from President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday. The amended law seeks to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the management of Waqf properties across the country.
