BJP Intensifies Attack On Arvind Kejriwal, Calls Him ‘AAP-Da-e-Azam Of Sheeshmahal’

New Delhi (India), January 11: With the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February 5, 2025, the political battle has heated up, as the BJP launched a sharp attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, calling him the “AAP-Da-e-Azam of Sheeshmahal” who needs to be “chased away.”

The BJP has accused AAP leaders of corruption and misgovernance, while the AAP continues to highlight its achievements in sectors like education and healthcare. The Delhi unit of the BJP took to social media to amplify its criticism, posting in Hindi on platform X, “The people of Delhi have decided, AAP-Da-e-Azam of the Sheeshmahal has to be chased away.”

As the elections draw near, the BJP has ramped up its campaign, targeting Kejriwal over his alleged involvement in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The party expressed confidence in forming the next government with a “double engine” administration, indicating a desire for both state and central alignment.

In the high-profile New Delhi seat, the BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma, the former MP and son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, to challenge Arvind Kejriwal. The Congress has also entered the fray, nominating Sandeep Dixit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, to contest from the same seat.

Additionally, in Kalkaji, the BJP has nominated former MP Ramesh Bidhuri to contest against Delhi CM Atishi, while Congress has fielded former MLA Alka Lamba.

The Delhi assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. The last date for filing nominations is January 17, followed by scrutiny on January 18 and withdrawal of candidacies by January 20.

The upcoming election is expected to be a three-way contest between the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has seen significant losses in recent elections, failing to win a seat in the last two assembly elections. In the 2020 assembly polls, AAP secured a sweeping victory with 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won just 8.
