Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Satish Upadhyay on Monday questioned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s performance, asking whether he has fulfilled the promises made to the people of Delhi.
As the BJP ramps up preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections, expected in early 2025, its Delhi unit has held a series of meetings to strategize.
“One thing is certain in Delhi: people have made up their mind that a change is taking place and the government of the BJP is coming to power,” Upadhyay said, speaking to media.
Criticism of Kejriwal
Upadhyay referred to Kejriwal’s recent statement about not forming alliances for the upcoming elections and questioned his credibility.
“My question is: Can the public of Delhi put their trust in Arvind Kejriwal? Has he delivered all of his promises? He is just showing off. It is his prerogative whatever he is going to do,” Upadhyay remarked.
He accused Kejriwal of misleading Delhiites, stating, “Except for falsehood, cheating, and his double-faced character, he is doing nothing. The public of Delhi is very worried.”
AAP’s Strategy and BJP’s Preparations
On Sunday, Kejriwal declared that his party would not form alliances for the Delhi Assembly elections. “There will be no alliance in Delhi (for assembly elections),” Kejriwal told reporters.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, convened to discuss their roadmap for the elections.
In November, AAP announced its first list of 11 candidates for the 2025 Assembly elections. The 2020 elections saw AAP secure a landslide victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has yet to announce the official dates for the 2025 elections.
