New Delhi [India]: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Parvesh Verma expressed confidence on Monday that the party will form the next government in Delhi, asserting that BJP-ruled states have consistently delivered on their promises during the past 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“The BJP delivers whatever it promises. We have demonstrated this in every BJP-ruled state,” Verma told media, adding that the party is prepared to secure a mandate in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.
Comment on AAP’s Stand
Verma also criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s recent declaration that AAP would contest the upcoming Delhi elections without forming alliances.
Referring to AAP’s previous alignment with the Congress during the Lok Sabha elections, Verma stated, “Arvind Kejriwal and the Congress claimed independence during the Lok Sabha polls, only to forge an alliance later. They cannot be trusted.”
Political Dynamics Ahead of Elections
- AAP has already announced its first list of 11 candidates for the assembly polls.
- Kejriwal’s statement of ruling out alliances indicates the party’s confidence following its landslide victory in the 2020 elections, where AAP won 62 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly.
Meanwhile, the BJP is preparing for the 2025 elections with strategic meetings led by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and senior party leaders.
Background and Context
The upcoming elections will serve as a significant test for both AAP and BJP in Delhi, where AAP has maintained a dominant position since 2015. BJP leaders have emphasized their development-centric agenda and the fulfillment of promises as key talking points to challenge AAP’s governance record.
While the Election Commission of India (ECI) has yet to announce official election dates, political momentum is building as both parties gear up for a highly contested electoral battle.
