BJP Appoints Senior Leaders as Election In-Charges for Key States, Dharmendra Pradhan to Lead Bihar Campaign

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its high-profile team of election in-charges for several upcoming state assembly polls, including Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. The appointments, made by Party President JP Nadda, signal the BJP’s strategic focus and early preparations for these crucial elections.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the election in-charge for Bihar, a state poised to hold its assembly elections in the near future. Pradhan, a seasoned political strategist with a strong track record, will be assisted by Union Minister CR Patil and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

For West Bengal, which is scheduled to go to the polls in 2026, the party has tasked Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav with leading the campaign. Yadav, who won his first Lok Sabha election in 2024 from Alwar, will be joined by former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb. Yadav is widely recognized for his successful campaign management in states like Bihar (2015), Madhya Pradesh (2023), and Odisha (2024).

In Tamil Nadu, also holding elections next year, BJP lawmaker Bijayant Panda has been named the election in-charge. He will be assisted by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol. Panda has prior experience as the election in-charge for Delhi in 2024.

The appointments of Pradhan and Yadav, in particular, highlight the BJP’s reliance on experienced leaders known for their ability to manage complex campaigns and shape political narratives. Pradhan successfully oversaw the party’s campaigns in Uttar Pradesh (2022) and Karnataka (2023), while Yadav was a key figure in the 2024 Maharashtra campaign.

The announcement comes as the BJP looks to consolidate its position and expand its electoral footprint in states where it faces strong regional opposition. By appointing a team of senior leaders well in advance, the party aims to build momentum and address local challenges effectively ahead of the elections.
