Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 6: BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan on Monday launched a sharp attack on AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of betraying the people of Delhi and causing the government’s financial downfall. His comments came in response to a recent audit report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which revealed that the renovation of the Delhi Chief Minister’s official residence, the ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ cost Rs 33.66 crore.
Kesavan criticized Kejriwal, describing him as a discredited leader who has “muffled the truth” and now faces exposure over financial misconduct. “The CAG audit has been explosive and has revealed the misuse of taxpayers’ money. The AAP government spent Rs 33.6 crore on the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ renovation during the COVID-19 pandemic when many people were struggling to survive,” he said, calling the move a betrayal of Delhi’s citizens.
He also accused the AAP-led Delhi government of enabling scandals and scams over the past decade, resulting in the bankruptcy of the Delhi government. “This government has derailed Delhi’s progress, blocking the benefits of central schemes to the people,” Kesavan added.
The BJP spokesperson expressed confidence in his party’s victory in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. He predicted that the people of Delhi would decisively reject the AAP, ushering in a BJP-led government that would drive the capital’s development. Kesavan emphasized, “The people of Delhi have realized the failures of the AAP, and they will put an end to this government, ensuring a bright future for Delhi in the nation’s growth story.”
The controversy surrounding the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ renovation centers on allegations that Kejriwal oversaw the lavish renovation of his official residence during a time when many other public development projects were suspended due to the pandemic.
