Patna: In a major breakthrough in the Gopal Khemka murder case, the Bihar Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of the shooter responsible for the killing of the prominent businessman and BJP leader.
According to Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Kundan Krishnan, the investigation has revealed that Ashok Sahu was the man who allegedly hired contract killers to eliminate Khemka.
“The facts that have come in the investigation are that the shooter has been arrested, and we have the evidence against him. We also have proof against Ashok Sahu, who gave the contract to kill the victim,” said ADG Krishnan.
Khemka was shot dead late Friday night outside his residence in Patna, triggering shock and outrage in the political and business circles.
Krishnan added that the motive behind the murder is still under investigation, and that call records and other digital evidence are being examined to uncover the full conspiracy.
“There can be many reasons behind this; many call records have to be checked,” the ADG added.
Police sources say further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
