Bihar On ‘Time Bomb Of Corruption And Unemployment,’ Says Tejashwi Yadav

PATNA – Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), said that the NDA administration in Bihar is “sitting on the time bomb of corruption and unemployment.” Yadav told reporters on Sunday that the Nitish Kumar government made promises that were too good to be true before the elections. He thinks these promises will cost the state an unbelievable ₹7 lakh crore, which he says the government can’t pay.

Yadav said again that many of the government’s recent pronouncements were just copies of promises he had already made. “Because of the forthcoming elections, they have promised so many sops. It would cost the government a huge ₹7 lakh crore. He remarked, “They don’t have enough money to keep their promises,” which suggests that the opposition has a “backup plan” to outsmart the ruling alliance.

The RJD leader’s comments were directed at the NDA’s senior leaders, including as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Yadav’s statements come at a time when politics in Bihar is heating up before the elections. The NDA and the opposition are both fighting on promises of development and votes.

Sanjay Jha, the working president of the JD(U), quickly called Yadav’s remarks “wishful thinking.” Jha said that the Nitish Kumar government has achieved a lot of progress since 2005, especially in giving women more authority and helping the rural economy. Jha defended the government’s record and said that Tejashwi wouldn’t grasp how far Bihar has come since the RJD departed in 2005. “The people are not going to look beyond CM Nitish Kumar,” he said.

The exchange shows how political tensions are rising in Bihar, with the opposition focusing on concerns of governance and the ruling party bragging about its accomplishments in development.
