Constable Sarvjeet Kumar arrested after allegedly firing 12 rounds, killing fellow constable Sonu Kumar in a late-night altercation at Bettiah Police Line.

In a shocking incident at the Bettiah Police Line in Bihar’s West Champaran district, Constable Sarvjeet Kumar allegedly shot and killed his colleague Constable Sonu Kumar late Saturday night using his Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), officials confirmed.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 10:20 PM. The victim sustained 11 bullet injuries and died on the spot.
🔫 12 Shots Fired, Constable Killed on the Spot
Speaking to the media, Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep said both constables were recently transferred to the location and had been working together. The attack appeared to stem from a personal dispute, which escalated fatally.
“Sarvjeet Kumar claimed there were some family issues, and during a heated argument with Sonu Kumar, he lost his mental balance,” said SDPO Deep.
Police recovered 11 used shells and one live cartridge from the scene, confirming that 12 rounds were fired.

Following the shooting, Sarvjeet Kumar was immediately apprehended, and his service weapon was confiscated. A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact motive and sequence of events.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local police force, raising serious concerns about mental health, conflict resolution, and arms protocol among personnel.
