Patna (Bihar) [India]: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena on Saturday commended the state government’s efforts to address connectivity challenges, emphasizing that the Public Works and other departments are actively working to further reduce travel distances across the state.
“Bihar has witnessed remarkable progress over the last 15-20 years, visible to everyone. The Chief Minister’s vision of ensuring seamless travel from any part of the state to the capital, Patna, has been realized. Now, efforts are underway to further minimize travel time,” Meena said.
Highlighting infrastructure development, Meena noted that prior to 2005, there were only four bridges across the Ganga River in Bihar. This number has now increased to 14, significantly improving connectivity within the state. “The connectivity challenge that existed earlier has been addressed, bringing benefits to every sector,” he added.
Investment Opportunities and Bihar Business Connect 2024
Speaking about the success of the Bihar Business Connect 2024 summit, Meena announced that the state signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹1.81 thousand crores with over 400 investors from various sectors during the two-day event held in Patna on December 21-22.
He highlighted the renewable energy sector as a major area of interest, alongside significant investment opportunities in food processing, textiles, information technology, plastics, and other industries.
Meena expressed confidence that the MoUs signed at the summit would lead to tangible projects, citing the successful conversion of 50% of last year’s MoUs, valued at ₹53 thousand crores, into actionable initiatives.
Streamlining Investments in Bihar
To further support investment, Bihar has established a State Investment Promotion Board that reviews proposals weekly. The state has also introduced a single-window clearance system and a project monitoring system to streamline investor facilitation.
“Officials are being trained and instructed to assist with investment proposals, ensuring employment generation and fostering a conducive investment environment,” Meena said.
