Maithili Thakur, a popular folk and devotional singer, has talked about the rumors that she would run for office in the forthcoming Bihar assembly election. Thakur was evasive when asked about running for office on Monday, neither confirming nor denying the notion. However, she firmly implied that she had an emotional tie to her home constituency.
People started talking about politics after Maithili Thakur was recently seen meeting with top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Vinod Tawde, the party’s election in-charge, and Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister. The pictures, which Tawde uploaded on his X (previously Twitter) account on Sunday and rapidly went popular, prompted to rumors that she might run for the Bihar assembly election on a BJP ticket, potentially from a seat in the Darbhanga area.
Singer Hints About Love for Hometown
Thakur admitted to the reports and the high-profile meetings when asked about the political buzz.
“Me too, I’ve been seeing these things on TV. I just got back from a trip to Bihar, where I met Nityanand Rai and Vinod Tawde. We talked about what Bihar’s future would be like. There has been no formal word yet. “But let’s see what happens,” she said.
But Thakur then made it clear what she would like to do if she ran for office: “I would like to stand from my village constituency because I have an attachment to it.”
Vinod Tawde’s viral social media article also connected Thakur’s family background to the state’s political growth. Tawde’s article said that Thakur’s family had fled Bihar in 1995 when Lalu Prasad Yadav was in charge. They now want to go back after seeing how the state has changed since then.
The focus is still on “Country’s Development.”
Thakur’s comments have sparked further debate among politicians, especially as more cultural icons are said to be entering politics. However, she is still secretive about her political beliefs.
When asked which party she would vote for in the elections, the singer preferred not to say, saying, “I don’t want to talk about this right now…” I am standing firm to do whatever I can to help the country grow.
There hasn’t been any official word from Maithili Thakur or the BJP, but her speech has put her in the middle of talks about the political situation in Bihar.
