Patna (Bihar) [India], February 26: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to expand his cabinet on Wednesday, bringing in new ministers from his party, Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The expansion is scheduled for around 4 pm, with sources confirming that four more Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be appointed as ministers. Additionally, two MLAs from JD(U) are also expected to join the cabinet.
In a significant political development, Bihar Revenue Minister and BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal announced his resignation from the ministerial post, citing the BJP’s “One Person, One Post” policy. “I am going to resign from the post of Revenue Minister. ‘One person, one post’ is the principle on which the party works. I am thankful that the central leadership has given me the responsibility of the party’s state unit,” Jaiswal told.
Jaiswal was appointed the BJP’s Bihar state president on January 18, and his resignation may lead to further reshuffling in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet as the state heads towards elections later this year. Regarding the cabinet expansion, Jaiswal remarked, “It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister.”
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, has called on the people of Bihar to continue supporting his father in the upcoming elections. He emphasized the development work carried out by Nitish Kumar over the past 19 years and encouraged voters to ensure a greater mandate for continued progress.
“I urge the people of Bihar to vote for Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as he has done a lot of development in the state. Last time, people gave 43 seats. The public should ensure that we win more seats in the elections so that we can continue the pace of development,” said Nishant Kumar. He also urged JD(U) workers to highlight Nitish Kumar’s achievements and policies from the past two decades to the public.
