Patna (Bihar) [India], July 8 : The Bihar cabinet has approved 43 key schemes and projects aimed at empowering the youth, uplifting farmers, and promoting inclusivity, including the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission, 35% job reservation for native women, and a Rs 100 crore diesel subsidy to support agriculture amid erratic monsoon conditions.
Key Highlights from the Cabinet Meeting:
✅ Bihar Youth Commission
Announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Youth Commission will focus on the development and empowerment of youth aged 18 to 45.
- It will consist of one chairperson, two vice-chairpersons, and seven members.
- The Commission will address the needs of:
- Migrant youth studying or working outside Bihar
- Higher secondary and college students
- Unemployed youth and economically weaker meritorious students
Nitish Kumar shared on X:
“The commission will work towards training youth, enhancing employment opportunities, and helping them become self-reliant and skilled.”
He added that it will also coordinate with government departments to ensure improved education and private sector employment for Bihar’s youth.
✅ 35% Reservation for Native Women in Government Jobs
A major step toward gender equity, the cabinet approved 35% horizontal reservation in all Bihar state government services for women who are native to the state.
Chief Secretary S Siddharth emphasized that this reservation applies to direct recruitment across all cadres.
✅ Diesel Subsidy for Farmers
To help farmers combat monsoon irregularities and drought-like conditions, the state approved a Rs 100 crore diesel subsidy.
- Applicable crops: Paddy, maize, barley, oilseeds, jute, vegetables, and medicinal plants.
- Aimed at supporting irrigation during the critical kharif season.
✅ Divyangjan Civil Seva Protsahan Scheme
To empower differently abled aspirants:
- Rs 50,000 will be given on clearing UPSC/BPSC prelims.
- Rs 1 lakh will be given on clearing mains.
✅ Road Development: Hisua Bypass
- The cabinet approved the Hisua bypass project, costing Rs 35.29 crore.
- The 2.9 km bypass aims to ease traffic congestion at Hisua Bazaar.
✅ Tackling Social Issues
The Youth Commission will also design programs to combat issues like alcoholism and substance abuse, with the goal of creating a healthier and more responsible youth population.
The overall initiative reflects the state government’s focus on youth-centric governance, gender equality, agricultural support, and social welfare.
